Northern Edge Real Estate on the Northern Edge Alaska Exercise

As your local real estate experts, Northern Edge Real Estate is happy to help you achieve your real estate goals this year. Whether that be buying a new home in Alaska, selling your current home, boosting your home value or even investing in commercial property. But as you may have realized, we are not the only Northern Edge by name in Alaska and in fact, the other—a military exercise—took place last month!

If you happened to notice the increase in military flying activity overhead, you can bet it was the Northern Edge exercise underway. The Northern Edge military exercise ran from May 1 through the 12 in an effort to prepare joint forces to respond to any crises that should arise in the Indo-Asia-Pacific Region. This exercise brought around 6,000 military personnel, 180 aircraft and several ships from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard, conducting exercises in the Gulf of Alaska and above the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex to improve their skills in a simulated combat setting.

The Northern Edge exercise—held since 1993—includes everything from maritime activities like air defense, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare, although its activities in the marine environment were scaled back this year in order to keep impact on fish and marine animals relatively low.

Being close to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Northern Edge Real Estate is familiar with assisting military servicemembers and their families with relocation, buying and selling homes. We also have first-hand experience— Why? Because many on our team are servicemembers too!

Do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions you have regarding the local real estate market, military relocation, VA loan requirements, or how to reach your real estate goals this year! We are here to help!
